Deck overview

This Azorius control deck is commanded by Hylda of the Icy Crown and converts creature-tapping mechanics into overwhelming board presence and card advantage. By playing over 25 cards that tap opposing permanents, the deck repeatedly triggers Hylda's ability for {1}, producing 4/4 Elemental tokens, distributing +1/+1 counters, or scrying and drawing cards. The deck uses early 2-CMC mana rocks to ensure Hylda resolves safely on Turn 4, setting up multi-trigger mass-tap turns with cards like Blustersquall, Sleep, and Cone of Cold by Turn 6. While building a formidable army of Elementals, the deck suppresses enemy attackers and neutralizes blockers with stun counters and untap restrictions. A robust suite of efficient single-target removal, counterspells, and protective answers like Clever Concealment and Dawn's Truce defends the board until the token army closes out the game through unblockable combat damage by Turn 8.
