Format: Commander

Commander: Witherbloom, the Balancer

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Witherbloom, the Balancer leads a Golgari pest-and-life engine that floods the board with small creatures, converts every point of life gain into opponent life loss, and finishes with either a burst sacrifice (Dina plus Jumbo Cactuar) or a large X-spell. The commander's role is discount, not engine: affinity for creatures makes it a mid-game beater and makes the deck's heavy instant and sorcery spells nearly free once a board exists. Secondary paths include wide token combat, recursion from Cauldron of Essence and Grist, and symmetric sacrifice effects the deck out-values. There is no hidden commander or double-faced commander to build around; the deck functions without ever casting the dragon.
