Deck overview

This Golgari deck pairs Kodama of the East Tree and Tevesh Szat, Doom of Fools to construct a resilient aristocrats and attrition engine. The game plan focuses on producing disposable creature tokens, sacrificing them for substantial card draw and mana velocity, and dismantling opposing boards with forced sacrifice effects. Tevesh Szat, Doom of Fools sits in the command zone as a dependable draw engine and token generator, while Kodama of the East Tree enables explosive turns by cheating permanents into play whenever other permanents enter. Asymmetric sacrifice pieces like Braids, Arisen Nightmare, Braids, Cabal Minion, and Butcher of Malakir keep opponent boards clear, while Tergrid, God of Fright steals sacrificed resources. The deck finishes games through drain effects like Bastion of Remembrance and Vengeful Bloodwitch, wide combat swings backed by Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest, or an infinite mana loop via Magus of the Coffers and Umbral Mantle.
