Deck overview

This deck is a Jeskai spellslinger strategy that uses legendary Wizard tribal synergies to cheat large instants and sorceries into play. Commanded by Gandalf, Party Guest, the list aims to curve low-cost legendary Wizards—such as Ral, Monsoon Mage, Baral, Chief of Compliance, and Vivi Ornitier—into an early commander deployment. Once Gandalf enters the battlefield, his combat trigger casts powerful spells directly from hand without paying their mana costs, scaling in power with the number of legendary Wizards controlled. The deck converts this mana velocity into decisive board states by casting asymmetric sweepers like Urza's Ruinous Blast and Raise the Palisade, or game-ending spells like Full Throttle, Insurrection, and Time Warp. Card draw engines like Whirlwind of Thought, Azami, Lady of Scrolls, and Rhystic Study keep the hand refilled, while combat pumps from Adeliz, the Cinder Wind and Balmor, Battlemage Captain close out games through aggressive combat damage and direct burn.
