Deck overview

Thranduil, the Elvenking is a Sultai elfball deck that uses the graveyard as a second ability suite. Early dorks such as Llanowar Elves and Elvish Archdruid accelerate into Thranduil, while Entomb, Buried Alive, and Thranduil's own loot-discard put elf abilities into the graveyard, letting the commander tap for massive mana, untap itself, tutor, regenerate, or overrun. The deck wins primarily through explosive mana into Finale of Devastation / Craterhoof Behemoth, a huge Torment of Hailfire, or the Staff of Domination mana-dork loop. Secondary lines include Bloodline Bidding mass reanimation and Ezuri, Renegade Leader overruns. The legendary-Elf ETB draw trigger on Thranduil provides strong card filtering and keeps the engine fed.
