Deck overview

This mono-black control and combo deck is commanded by Liliana, Heretical Healer. It seizes control of the game by forcing repeated discards and creature sacrifices using asymmetric stax pieces such as Oppression, Grave Pact, and Tergrid, God of Fright. The deck accelerates its mana with Jet Medallion, Crypt Ghast, Cabal Coffers, and K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth, while drawing massive card volume through Necropotence, Skullclamp, and Yawgmoth, Thran Physician. Its primary win condition is the two-card combo of Professor Onyx and Chain of Smog, which drains all opponents from 40 to 0 life in a single turn via infinite Magecraft triggers. Reliable backup lines include aristocrat loops with Gravecrawler, Phyrexian Altar, and Zulaport Cutthroat, along with heavy drain from Gray Merchant of Asphodel. While soft to noncreature permanent removal, the deck recovers rapidly through dense graveyard recursion.
