Deck overview

This deck is an Azorius control strategy led by Elminster that translates scrying into dramatic mana discounts and flying board presence. The game plan focuses on early ramp and cantrip sculpting, resolving Elminster on Turn 4 or 5, and leveraging scry triggers to cheat the casting costs of high-impact instants and sorceries. By manipulating the top of the library with cards like Brainstorm and Mystic Speculation, Elminster's -3 ability produces substantial swarms of 1/1 flying Faerie Dragons based on the mana value of exiled cards like Storm Herd or Clone Legion. The deck backs up this token beatdown plan with alternate win conditions such as Approach of the Second Sun and an elite suite of Azorius interaction, including Fierce Guardianship, Mana Drain, Cyclonic Rift, and Farewell, ensuring resilient defense while transitioning into a decisive airborne finish.
