Deck overview

This deck is a classic mono-black battlecruiser midrange strategy led by Ob Nixilis of the Black Oath. The primary game plan focuses on generating large amounts of mana through Swamps, mana rocks, and mana doublers like Crypt Ghast and Magus of the Coffers. Early turns are dedicated to hitting land drops, ramping, and using efficient single-target removal to keep aggressive opponents in check. On Turn 5, Ob Nixilis enters the battlefield to produce 5/5 flying Demon tokens, which serve as offensive threats and sacrifice fodder. In the mid-to-late game, the deck deploys heavy hitters like Grave Titan, Lashwrithe, and Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief to apply severe combat pressure. Attrition engines such as Butcher of Malakir and sweepers like Mutilate clear away opposing armies, while life-draining finishers like Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Xathrid Demon close out the table.
