Commander: Ares, God of War

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

This is a Rakdos sacrifice-and-attrition deck built around Ares, God of War. Ares turns combat into a recycling engine: attackers who die return to hand, while the rest of the 99 converts those deaths into cards, Treasures, and damage. Grim Haruspex, Midnight Reaper, Garna, Bloodfist of Keld, and Agent Venom draw off death; Pitiless Plunderer, Mahadi, Emporium Master, and Warren Soultrader make mana; Mayhem Devil, Judith, the Scourge Diva, and The Meathook Massacre drain the table. The deck closes games in three ways: the Reassembling Skeleton + Ashnod's Altar + Pitiless Plunderer loop with a drain payoff, hasty extra-combat turns using Goldspan Dragon / RMS Titanic with Aggravated Assault or Full Throttle, and late haymakers like Insurrection and Rise of the Dark Realms. It is a midrange value deck that punishes boards and wipes.
