Deck overview

This mono-black deck leverages Sheoldred, the Apocalypse to convert universal card draw into asymmetric life swings. The deck accelerates in the opening turns with efficient rituals and mana rocks, deploying Sheoldred by Turn 4. From there, it weaponizes forced draw engines like Teferi's Puzzle Box, Howling Mine, and Memory Jar, burning opponents down while continuously buffering the pilot's life total. Beyond incremental group slug attrition, the list features potent burst finishers like Peer into the Abyss, big mana mana sinks via Cabal Coffers, and compact two-card infinite loops between Exquisite Blood and life-gain-triggered drain effects such as Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose and Sanguine Bond. Free removal spells and targeted hand/graveyard hate keep opposing combo decks in check while mono-black reanimation engines ensure resilience against removal.
