Deck overview

This Golgari deck transforms The Gitrog Monster into the centerpiece of a dedicated Lands and Landfall Midrange strategy. Rather than pursuing fast competitive combo lines, the list focuses on exponential mana acceleration, graveyard land recursion, and overwhelming creature swarms. Dense early ramp at one and two mana consistently deploys Gitrog on Turn 4, unlocking extra land drops and converting sacrificed fetchlands, cycling lands, and dredgers like Life from the Loam and Dakmor Salvage into steady card advantage. On Turn 5, the deck transitions into lethal onset by deploying heavy landfall payoffs including Scute Swarm, Titania, Protector of Argoth, Rampaging Baloths, and Avenger of Zendikar. Mass land retrieval through Splendid Reclamation and World Shaper rapidly supercharges these token armies, culminating in lethal combat damage across Turns 6 and 7. While vulnerable to graveyard exile and sweepers, redundant recursion engines and resilient board presence ensure dependable Midrange dominance.
