Widow Viper by KTParadox

Format: Commander

Commander: Aphelia, Viper Whisperer

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Golgari deck helmed by Aphelia, Viper Whisperer is a midrange combat-focused strategy that leverages deathtouch creatures to control the board and chip away at life totals. The primary game plan involves deploying a critical mass of deathtouch snakes and gorgons, then activating Aphelia s {4}{B} ability to halve opponents life totals whenever one or more of those creatures deal combat damage. The deck also includes Bloodletter of Aclazotz to double life loss, turning a single hit into a one-shot kill. Secondary win conditions include incremental drain from Hooded Blightfang and South Wind Avatar, as well as theft effects from Rev, Tithe Extractor and Thieving Amalgam. The commander is essential for the finisher but the deck can still apply pressure without her via deathtouch beatdown and value engines like Ohran Frostfang.
