Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black life-payment combo deck commanded by K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth. It uses K'rrik's ability to pay 2 life instead of black mana, rapidly deploying high-impact draw engines and tutors ahead of curve. The primary win condition is the two-card combo of Professor Onyx and Chain of Smog, which drains the entire table through infinite Magecraft triggers. Secondary lines leverage Bolas's Citadel and Aetherflux Reservoir to chain spells from the top of the library and eliminate opponents with direct damage. Abundant card-draw engines like Necropotence, Vilis, Broker of Blood, and Greed convert excess life into massive card volume, ensuring access to key pieces. While the deck boasts high speed and explosive turns, its reliance on life totals and sorcery-speed tutors makes it vulnerable to aggressive pressure, stack-based countermagic, and well-timed instant creature or planeswalker removal.
