Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black Landfall strategy centered on Ob Nixilis, the Fallen. It leverages a dense 40-land mana base packed with 21 fetchlands, panoramas, and land-search spells to trigger Landfall repeatedly. The primary game plan is to accelerate mana on early turns, deploy Ob Nixilis on Turn 5, and immediately grow it into a massive threat while draining opponent life totals. Because Ob Nixilis targets one player at a time, the deck supplements its Voltron attacks with secondary drain engines like Retreat to Hagra, Dread Presence, and Polluted Bonds, alongside game-ending burst spells like Essence Harvest and Exsanguinate. While the deck possesses remarkable mana consistency and potent creature removal via Toxic Deluge and Defile, its win line is linear and vulnerable to targeted removal. Without heavy stack interaction or fast combo finishes, it relies on steady pressure and equipment like Whispersilk Cloak to close out games across multiple turns.
