Deck overview

This Rakdos deck is an attrition and group slug engine commanded by Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls. The strategy revolves around deploying low-cost, symmetrical damage sources such as Roiling Vortex, Razorkin Needlehead, Zo-Zu the Punisher, and Manabarbs that punish opponents for ordinary game actions like drawing cards, tapping lands, casting spells, and entering creatures. Once Valgavoth enters the battlefield, any initial life loss on an opponent's turn triggers its ability, growing the Demon into a massive flying threat while drawing up to three extra cards per table rotation. This steady influx of resources fuels a dense suite of flexible removal, protection, and damage amplifiers like Solphim, Mayhem Dominus and Wound Reflection. The deck gradually lowers all opposing life totals simultaneously before closing the game around Turn 8 through large drain spells like Exsanguinate and Gray Merchant of Asphodel or lethal aerial commander damage.
