Deck overview

This Golgari deck leverages The Serpent Society to turn cheap deathtouch creatures into oppressive board-control tools and lethal poison vectors. By combining an aggressive suite of low-cost deathtouchers with Fynn, the Fangbearer, the deck rapidly applies poison counters to opponents. Simultaneously, The Serpent Society's death trigger forces each opponent to sacrifice a nontoken creature whenever a deathtouch creature dies, creating a devastating asymmetric attrition engine when paired with sacrifice outlets like Yawgmoth, Thran Physician and Skullclamp. The commander's Ward ability—forcing targeting opponents to take five poison counters—provides potent natural shielding against spot removal. Card velocity is sustained through combat draw engines such as Toski, Bearer of Secrets and Black Widow, Deadly Hunter. Once the board is locked down, the deck rapidly eliminates the table around Turn 7 through proliferated poison, drain triggers, or an unblockable Triumph of the Hordes alpha strike.
