Deck overview

This deck is a Simic Merfolk tribal and +1/+1 counters engine commanded by Hakbal of the Surging Soul. The strategy curves low-mana Merfolk in the opening turns, deploys Hakbal on Turn 4, and leverages recurring team-wide explore triggers to filter draws, hit consistent land drops, and steadily grow the board. As the creature swarm expands, it transitions into overwhelming combat damage via evasion enablers like Herald of Secret Streams, Master of the Pearl Trident, and Thassa, God of the Sea. The deck generates substantial card advantage directly from the command zone, allowing it to rebuild quickly after disruption. While it lacks infinite combos and dense stack interaction, its rapid board growth, evasion, and explosive combat steps make it a lethal, resilient threat across casual and optimized tables.
