Deck overview

This Golgari Midrange deck uses Meren of Clan Nel Toth to build an attrition-heavy recursion engine. In the early game, cheap ramp creatures and self-mill spells fill the graveyard while setting up mana development. Once deployed on turn 4, Meren rapidly accumulates experience counters by sacrificing utility creatures like Sakura-Tribe Elder, Spore Frog, and Fleshbag Marauder. The midgame shifts into severe board control, using repeatable edict effects and Grave Pact to clear opposing creatures every turn cycle. The deck converts this resource disparity into victory around turns 6 to 8 by repeatedly looping Kokusho, the Evening Star and Gray Merchant of Asphodel or by overwhelming the board with Grave Titan and Razaketh, the Foulblooded. Standalone reanimators ensure the strategy functions smoothly even when Meren is targeted.
