DeckCheck Threat Index: 48

Deck overview

This deck leverages The Astonishing Ant-Man as a dual-threat value engine that converts card draws into +1/+1 counters and subsequently detaches those counters to produce a wide swarm of 1/1 Insect creature tokens. The early game focuses on accelerating mana with efficient 1-2 CMC ramp spells and establishing persistent draw engines or counter amplifiers like Hardened Scales, Biomancer's Familiar, and Sylvan Library. By Turn 4, the deck generates an initial wave of Insect tokens. On Turn 5, mass draw spells such as Distant Melody, Harmonized Crescendo, and Inspiring Call draw cards based on the insect board, instantly refilling the hand and reloading the commander with counters while deploying large pump pieces like Ouroboroid or Master Biomancer. On Turn 6, the deck closes out the table via overwhelming trample or unblockable combat damage with Overwhelming Stampede or Rikku, Resourceful Guardian. Robust countermagic, hexproof spells, and indestructible effects protect the swarm throughout execution.
