mono nero gix by user7844462

Format: Commander

Commander: Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

A mono-black life-as-resource combo deck. Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor turns unblockable attacks into extra draw by paying 1 life, and his activated ability can exile and play an opponent's cards for free. The main plan is to churn through the library with Gix and Phyrexian Arena, then win with a two-card life-drain loop (Exquisite Blood with Vito, Marauding Blight-Priest, or Sanguine Bond), a mill/bleed lock (Bloodchief Ascension + Mindcrank), or Aetherflux Reservoir + Bolas's Citadel + Sensei's Divining Top. A secondary big-mana path uses Bloodletter of Aclazotz with Shard of the Nightbringer or Exsanguinate. The commander is a draw engine, not a combo piece, and there is no hidden commander.
