Hydra Experiment [7.44 power] by user9781675

Format: Commander

Commander: Zaxara, the Exemplary

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Zaxara, the Exemplary is the deck's mana engine and token payoff, turning every X spell into a Hydra while tapping for two mana of any color. The primary plan is to develop a Sultai mana base, land Zaxara on curve, and assemble infinite mana with an untap aura on Zaxara, Bloom Tender, Kinnan, or Selvala; then cash out with Torment of Hailfire or Villainous Wealth. Secondary paths are an X-hydra combat kill doubled by Doubling Season, Corpsejack Menace, and Ozolith, then pushed through by Herald of Secret Streams. Thrasios, Triton Hero is a hidden commander in the 99, acting as a backup mana sink to draw the deck once infinite mana is online. The commander accelerates the plan, but most combo lines work without her.
