Deck overview

This mono-black Commander deck is built around Tergrid, God of Fright, leveraging symmetric discard and sacrifice effects to strip opposing resources and convert them into your own battlefield presence. The deck uses low-cost mana rocks to deploy Tergrid on Turn 4 or 5, immediately followed by multi-target edicts like Fleshbag Marauder, Accursed Marauder, or Burglar Rat. As opponents discard cards and sacrifice nontoken permanents, Tergrid steals them, snowballing your board state while leaving opponents starved of options. Passive engines such as Painful Quandary, Braids, Arisen Nightmare, and Bandit's Talent maintain this asymmetric pressure. If Tergrid is removed, the deck falls back on reanimation spells and heavy-hitting attrition creatures like Archon of Cruelty and Rankle, Master of Pranks to close out the game through combat damage.
