Deck overview

This deck is a classic Simic Sea Monster stompy strategy piloted by Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle. The primary game plan revolves around utilizing cheap green ramp to deploy Arixmethes on Turn 3, turning it into a two-mana ramp source on Turn 4. From there, the deck casts high-mana Leviathans, Krakens, and Octopuses while casting spells to remove slumber counters from the commander. Once Arixmethes awakens into a 12/12 creature, the deck leverages tribal-friendly asymmetric board wipes such as Whelming Wave, Scourge of Fleets, and Slinn Voda, the Rising Deep to sweep opposing boards while leaving its own giant sea creatures intact. Evasive enablers like Archetype of Imagination, Wonder, and Rogue's Passage or team pump effects like Overrun and Dragon Throne of Tarkir close out the game through overwhelming combat damage over two to three combat steps.
