Deck overview

This deck is a high-velocity Gruul spellslinger and storm burn strategy commanded by The Howling Abomination. The primary plan ramps into the commander on turn 4, then chains low-cost 1-mana targeting cantrips like Ancestral Anger, Charge Through, and Crimson Wisps. Each spell targeting the commander triggers a +2/+2 pump and deals 2 damage to each opponent, converting simple cantrips into board-wide burn and rapid commander growth. Curiosity effects like Keen Sense and Snake Umbra supercharge this engine by drawing three cards per trigger, enabling explosive storm turns that can deal 30 to 40 direct damage across the table on turns 5 to 6. Efficient protection spells like Blossoming Defense and Deflecting Swat safeguard the commander while advancing the burn clock. Backup burn engines like Guttersnipe, Zada, Hedron Grinder, and Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might maintain strong redundancy and reach even if the commander is removed.
