Format: Commander

Commander: The Lord of Pain

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

A black-red pain/combo deck built around The Lord of Pain as a permanent first-spell tax and anti-life-gain piece. It is not a double-faced commander, and there is no hidden commander; Vial Smasher the Fierce is simply a non-commander echo of the same effect. The primary plan is attrition through group draw and life-loss effects, then a half-life or damage-amplification combo that kills all remaining players at once. Secondary paths include Sorin Markov lowering one target to 10 and Unstoppable Slasher plus Bloodletter killing a single opponent in one hit. The commander is a source of reach and prevention, but none of the final kill lines actually require him, so removing him slows the deck but does not stop it.
