Deck overview

This mono-black deck runs a dedicated Shadowborn Apostle engine designed to bypass traditional mana curves by cheating massive Demon threats directly from the library onto the battlefield. Running 25 copies of Shadowborn Apostle, the deck establishes exceptional opening consistency, deploying cheap 1-mana Clerics on curve to activate an ability that fetches game-ending Demons as early as Turn 4. With commander Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker in play, sacrificed 1-power Apostles recur at each end step, creating a perpetual recursion loop that fuels life-drain effects like Zulaport Cutthroat and card draw from Taborax, Hope's Demise. Cheated threats such as Razaketh, the Foulblooded, Vilis, Broker of Blood, and Archfiend of Despair rapidly close games through explosive tutoring, card replenishment, and multiplied life loss. While vulnerable to early sweeper effects and lacking stack countermagic, the deck exhibits remarkable redundancy and resilient recovery via mass-name recursion spells like Echoing Return and Secret Salvage.
