Deck overview

This Kaervek the Merciless deck is a punishing Rakdos Group Slug and burn control deck that turns every fundamental game action into severe life loss for opponents. The early game focuses on deploying mana rocks and low-cost symmetrical attrition pieces like Roiling Vortex, Spellshock, and Zo-Zu the Punisher. As the mid-game arrives, the deck leverages burst card draw from Stinging Study and Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls to transition into high-impact damage multipliers like Solphim, Mayhem Dominus, Torbran, Thane of Red Fell, and Wound Reflection. Casting Kaervek turns every spell opponents cast into targeted lightning strikes against their life totals or key creatures. Free and low-cost protection spells defend your engines while anti-lifegain effects prevent opponents from stabilizing, steadily burning out the entire table across 2 response cycles.
