Deck overview

This deck is a Golgari midrange and aristocrats strategy commanded by Grist, the Hunger Tide. Grist acts as a cheap, recurring engine from the command zone, generating 1/1 Insect tokens, fueling the graveyard via self-mill, and functioning as versatile removal on demand. The deck builds board presence using kindred Insect synergies and landfall token creators such as Scute Swarm and Crawling Infestation. Victory is achieved by converting mass tokens into lethal combat damage using anthem and counter engines like Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest and Overwhelming Encounter, or by draining opponents with Mirkwood Bats, Blood Artist, and Aatchik, Emerald Radian. The deck possesses robust, low-cost permanent removal and sweeper capabilities via Assassin's Trophy, Beast Within, and Toxic Deluge. However, it lacks dedicated instant-speed protection or countermagic, leaving its setup exposed to board wipes and graveyard exile.
