The Persistence of Loss

Format: Commander

Commander: Sephiroth, Fabled SOLDIER // Sephiroth, One-Winged Angel

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Sephiroth is an aristocrats engine in monoblack: the front face turns cheap recursive creatures into death triggers and card draw, and the fourth trigger flips into One-Winged Angel, whose emblem doubles the deck's drain volume. Primary play is to sacrifice creatures, transform, then use the back face's attack draw to find Warren Soultrader plus Gravecrawler or a large X-spell. Secondary paths use Black Market and Crypt of Agadeem to power Exsanguinate or a large Gray Merchant. The deck is commander-moderate: Ayara, Priest of Forgotten Gods, and the drain trio keep the plan alive if Sephiroth is answered. Removal is almost entirely creature-focused, so opposing artifacts are a real blind spot. No hidden commander exists; Vincent Valentine is incidental value.
