Budget Ghave Combo by Buddadragon

Format: Commander

Commander: Ghave, Guru of Spores

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This deck is a dedicated Abzan Aristocrats and +1/+1 counter combo engine helmed by Ghave, Guru of Spores. The primary game plan is to establish a board state where Ghave can convert mana into tokens and tokens into counters, eventually finding a piece that makes this process mana-neutral or mana-positive. The deck leverages "Persist" loops and "Enter the Battlefield" (ETB) triggers to generate infinite tokens, infinite mana, or infinite drain. While it can win through a wide board of Saprolings or Squirrels, it most often closes games by utilizing "blood artist" effects like Cruel Celebrant, Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim, or Mirkwood Bats to drain the table during a loop. Ghave acts as the central pivot point, serving as both a sacrifice outlet and a token generator, making the deck highly synergistic but heavily reliant on its commander to bridge disparate mechanical themes.
