The Armies of Mordor by user2611934

Format: Commander

Commander: Sauron, the Dark Lord

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Grixis amass deck. Sauron, the Dark Lord is the face, but Saruman, the White Hand is effectively the hidden commander: nearly every noncreature spell doubles as an Army pump. Sauron taxes opposing spells with amass, turns Army combat damage into Ring tempts, and converts those tempts into a hand-refill by discarding a dead hand. Secondary paths are a Wraith-go-wide strategy with Lord of the Nazgul and nine Nazgul and a combat finisher via Assault on Osgiliath, Shadowspear, and Rogue's Passage. The deck wins incrementally, not through combos, and is vulnerable to losing its engine creatures to repeated removal.
