You Were So Preoccupied by KotaMori

Format: Commander

Commander: Ian Malcolm, Chaotician

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

This deck is a chaotic, Group Hug-style Izzet strategy helmed by Ian Malcolm, Chaotician. The primary game plan revolves around forcing all players to draw massive amounts of cards using engines like Howling Mine, Dictate of Kruphix, and Forced Fruition. This triggers Ian Malcolm's ability, exiling cards from opponents' libraries and allowing you to cast them. The deck leverages this by running payoffs for casting spells from exile, such as Passionate Archaeologist and Flaming Tyrannosaurus. Simultaneously, it breaks the symmetry of the forced card draw by deploying brutal punishers like Niv-Mizzet, Parun, Psychosis Crawler, and Razorkin Needlehead to burn opponents down. The deck eschews traditional infinite combos in favor of overwhelming synergistic inevitability, turning the opponents' card advantage into their own demise while reveling in the unpredictable nature of casting their spells against them.
