Deck overview

This Bant deck is helmed by Arcades, the Strategist, transforming inexpensive, high-toughness defender creatures into formidable beaters and repeatable draw engines. The early game establishes rapid mana acceleration and cheap walls like Overgrown Battlement, Wall of Roots, and Shield Sphere. Once Arcades enters on Turn 3 or 4, every subsequent defender cantrips, rapidly filling the hand and establishing an imposing board presence. The deck maintains substantial resilience and board control through asymmetric sweepers like Slaughter the Strong, Wave of Reckoning, and Dusk // Dawn, which eliminate opposing threats while leaving high-toughness walls untouched. Lethal finishes arrive on Turn 5 or 6 via explosive combat modifiers such as Akroma's Will, Tetsuko Umezawa, Fugitive, or Craterhoof Behemoth. The deck is protected by a premier suite of free and efficient counterspells including Fierce Guardianship, Force of Will, and Flawless Maneuver, ensuring the board remains intact through opposing disruption.
