Spellslinger by TheFrostBiteGD

Format: Commander

Commander: Baral and Kari Zev

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Izzet spellslinger deck is helmed by Baral and Kari Zev, leveraging their ability to cast a free spell each turn (with lesser mana value than the first instant or sorcery you cast) while generating a hasty token if you decline. The primary plan is to chain cheap instants and sorceries, copying them with effects like Thousand-Year Storm, Return the Favor, and Mica, Reader of Ruins, then finishing opponents with burn spells (Boltwave, Lightning Strike) amplified by City on Fire or a swarm of tokens from Rite of the Dragoncaller and Tellah, Great Sage. The deck offers a moderate amount of stack interaction and card selection but relies on prolonged setup turns to close out games, often requiring an extra turn from Avatar Kuruk to seal the victory.
