Deck overview

This Golgari deck is helmed by The Serpent Society, a versatile commander that rewards a deathtouch-heavy board with a forced-sacrifice tax on opponents. The primary strategy is poison-counter attrition: early deathtouch creatures like Fynn, the Fangbearer deliver poison via combat damage, while a proliferate suite (Blightbelly Rat, Contaminant Grafter, Smell Fear, Karn's Bastion) accelerates opponents to the ten-poison threshold. The commander itself provides board control through its death trigger, and its ward cost (five poison counters) makes it sticky. Backup plans include Exsanguinate as a mana sink and drain from Hooded Blightfang and Poison-Tip Archer. The deck operates as a midrange value engine, using card draw from Sylvan Library, Phyrexian Arena, Toski, Bearer of Secrets, and Deathreap Ritual to fuel incremental advantage.
