Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black Aristocrats engine commanded by Ayara, First of Locthwain. The strategy focuses on establishing early board presence through low-cost recursive creatures and token generators like Ophiomancer, Jadar, Ghoulcaller of Nephalia, and Reassembling Skeleton. Ayara converts this continuous fodder into reliable card advantage while steadily draining opponent life totals through enter-the-battlefield and death triggers. In the midgame, the deck compounds resource advantage using engines such as Skullclamp, The One Ring, and Bastion of Remembrance. The primary lethal path revolves around casting Plague of Vermin with Ayara in play, paying life to create dozens of Rat tokens that immediately trigger Ayara to drain the entire table in a single turn. Backup win conditions include explosive Bolas's Citadel chains and heavy devotion swings with Gray Merchant of Asphodel. While vulnerable to instant-speed creature removal and artifact-heavy strategies, the deck maintains consistent pressure and resilient recursion.
