Deck overview

This Golgari deck leverages low-cost deathtouch creatures to create an oppressive combat dynamic and a swift poison clock. Led by The Serpent Society, the deck turns every combat trade into a multi-opponent board wipe by forcing each opponent to sacrifice a nontoken creature whenever one of your deathtouchers dies. Opponents face a lose-lose dilemma: blocking eliminates their creatures and triggers board-wide sacrifices, while letting attacks through allows cards like Fynn, the Fangbearer, Bloated Contaminator, and Contaminant Grafter to stack lethal poison counters rapidly. Proliferation engines like Evolution Sage and Karn's Bastion steadily tick poison to ten without requiring continuous combat connections. Meanwhile, Vraska, the Silencer converts opposing casualties into Treasure ramp, and Bloodroot Apothecary severely punishes noncreature tokens. The commander's Ward ability deters targeted removal by threatening five instant poison counters, allowing the deck to execute a resilient mid-game attrition strategy that closes games reliably around Turn 7.
