Deck overview

Auntie Ool, Cursewretch leads a Jund midrange attrition deck built around -1/-1 counters, wither, and aristocrat drain. The deck controls the battlefield by shrinking opposing creatures and turning every counter placement into resources: drawing cards when blighting your own creatures and draining opponents when targeting theirs. The mana base uses on-curve 2-CMC and 3-CMC rocks and dorks to deploy Auntie Ool on Turn 4, followed by repeatable counter engines like Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons and Sinister Gnarlbark on Turn 5. In the midgame, mass-counter spreaders like Carnifex Demon, Midnight Banshee, and Black Sun's Zenith decimate opposing boards, while Kulrath Knight and Necroskitter lock combat and steal dying creatures. The deck wins on Turn 8 through wide combat swings with deathtouch tokens and large demons combined with relentless life drain from Auntie Ool, Grave Venerations, and Lasting Tarfire. While highly resilient against creature strategies, the list remains vulnerable to mass exile sweepers and noncreature combo decks.
