Zaxara by TheSeaDog

Format: Commander

Commander: Zaxara, the Exemplary

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

Zaxara, the Exemplary is both the mana engine and token engine of this Sultai hydra/X-spell deck. The primary plan is to ramp into Zaxara, stack +1/+1-counter multipliers such as Hardened Scales, Corpsejack Menace, and Loading Zone, then cast large X permanents like Primo, the Unbounded and Goldvein Hydra. Unbound Flourishing and Zimone, Paradox Sculptor turn a single huge body into several lethal attackers. The secondary plan is flexible X-spell value and control: Hydroid Krasis draws, Curse of the Swine and Profane Command answer threats, and Villainous Wealth can steal a game out of nowhere. The deck has no double-faced commander; it wins primarily through trampling Hydra combat after a battlefield-wide pump.
