Commander: Smaug the Magnificent

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This deck is a mono-red Dragon/Treasure tribal strategy helmed by Smaug the Magnificent. The primary game plan is to generate a massive number of Treasure tokens using a dense package of dragons, dwarves, and enchantments, then use Smaug's attack trigger to deal lethal damage to opponents. Extra combat steps from Hellkite Charger and Scourge of the Throne allow the deck to chain combats in a single turn, converting a hoard of Treasures into a multi-player elimination. The deck also includes a backup win condition in Hellkite Tyrant's "20 artifacts" emblem. The commander's haste and the abundance of treasure generators make the deck explosive, but it is heavily reliant on assembling a critical mass of artifacts and dragons.
