Deck overview

This deck is a high-synergy Rakdos group-slug engine commanded by Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls. The strategy revolves around turning standard game actions into painful taxes for opponents while converting their suffering into card advantage and board presence. Low-cost slug cards such as Roiling Vortex, Razorkin Needlehead, and Ankh of Mishra ensure that every opponent loses life on their turn, triggering Valgavoth to draw extra cards and grow into a massive aerial threat. Mid-game damage multipliers like Solphim, Mayhem Dominus, Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might, and Fiery Emancipation quickly scale chip damage into lethal bursts. Stax-adjacent punisher cards like Manabarbs, Price of Glory, and Painful Quandary create severe operational friction, making it dangerous for opponents to cast spells or hold interaction. The deck closes games reliably around turn 7 through a mix of lethal commander combat damage, noncombat burn triggers, and explosive finishers like Price of Progress and Chandra's Ignition.
