Commander: Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This is a Rakdos group-slug "pain" deck built around Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls, who converts every opponent's first life-loss of each turn into a card drawn and a +1/+1 counter. The plan is relentless arithmetic: make the whole table bleed from every angle. Underworld Dreams and Fate Unraveler tax every draw, Manabarbs and Roiling Vortex tax every land tapped and every upkeep, Harsh Mentor and Rug of Smothering tax activations and extra spells, and Blood Artist, Syr Konrad, the Grim, and Mayhem Devil convert deaths into table-wide drain. Furnace of Rath doubles the pain while Screaming Nemesis and Rampaging Ferocidon lock out lifegain. The game ends through burst drain - Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Pestilence with Syr Konrad, or Chandra, Awakened Inferno emblems surviving a Worldfire reset. The deck wins by outlasting the table's removal while its symmetrical burn finishes everyone, including the pilot, first.
