Deck overview

Kudo, King Among Bears commands a synergistic Selesnya aggressive midrange strategy that weaponizes base power-and-toughness manipulation alongside +1/+1 counter engines. By setting every other creature to a 2/2 Bear, Kudo turns your small utility creatures into uniform threats while drastically shrinking opposing monsters. The deck breaks parity through static anthems and exponential counter scaling from pieces like Cathars' Crusade, Sovereign Okinec Ahau, and Ayula, Queen Among Bears, who turns every entering creature into a fight trigger or permanent stat growth. Furthermore, Kudo forms a devastating asymmetric creature lock with Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, instantly wiping opposing boards and preventing future creature deployment. With an elite suite of protection spells—including Teferi's Protection, Heroic Intervention, and free defensive spells—the deck insulates its board state against removal before closing the game via Craterhoof Behemoth or Akroma's Will. Robust card draw and repeatable enchantment disruption make this a resilient, high-pressure engine.
