Balrog, Prince of Darkness by masi22sfh

Format: Commander

Commander: The Balrog, Durin's Bane

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This is a Rakdos sacrifice-and-treasure midrange deck helmed by The Balrog, Durin's Bane. The plan is to flood the board with Treasure tokens and disposable creatures, then convert those permanents into a steeply discounted, hasty Balrog that is nearly unblockable (only legendary creatures can block it). Parallel value engines-Mayhem Devil, Mirkwood Bats, Pitiless Plunderer, Professional Face-Breaker, and Magda, Brazen Outlaw-turn every sacrifice into mana, cards, or table-wide drain. Finishers include commander-damage clocks amplified by Fiery Emancipation or Swashbuckler Extraordinaire, Chandra's Ignition on a pumped body, and attrition drains from repeated token loops. The Balrog is an efficient, recastable threat rather than a pure combo piece, and the 99 already functions as a cohesive treasure-sac value pile when the commander is unavailable.
