Deck overview

Kadena, Slinking Sorcerer leads a Sultai control and midrange deck centered on the morph mechanic. The deck uses Kadena's cost reduction to cast the first face-down creature each turn for free, converting every deployment into card draw. After deploying Kadena on Turn 4, the deck builds a hidden board state that conceals counterspells, bounce effects, and permanent removal behind face-down creatures. Because turning a morph face up is a special action that does not use the stack, the deck interacts at split-second speed and bypasses conventional countermagic. The primary win condition uses wide creature combat strengthened by Ezuri, Claw of Progress, Salt Road Ambushers, and Trail of Mystery, while Ixidron neutralizes opposing boards. The deck creates high card flow and deep tactical flexibility, but closing the game requires three combat cycles across the table, leaving it vulnerable to repeated board wipes.
