Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov Spirit tribal midrange strategy commanded by Athreos, God of Passage. It focuses on curving out evasive Spirit creatures, draining opponents through aristocrat effects like Bastion of Remembrance, and leveraging Athreos's death trigger to tax opponents' life totals whenever creatures die. The deck incorporates light stax elements, including Eidolon of Rhetoric and Spirit of the Labyrinth, to constrain faster opposing decks while it builds a critical mass of flyers. Payoffs such as Hallowed Haunting, Katilda, Dawnhart Martyr, and Akroma's Will turn small tokens and utility creatures into decisive combat threats. Because it runs minimal ramp and zero tutors, the deck operates at a deliberate, fair pace that excels in grindy combat environments but remains vulnerable to coordinated sweepers and faster combo strategies.
