Deck overview

This mono-black deck is helmed by Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, converting lifegain into direct life loss for opponents. The strategy deploys cheap Vampire creatures with lifelink, such as Gifted Aetherborn and Vampire Nighthawk, alongside passive drain engines like Creeping Bloodsucker and Blood Artist. Vito enters the battlefield early to turn routine combat damage and incidental lifegain into targeted burn. The deck transitions into the late game through burst finishers, including Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Bloodletter of Aclazotz, and Vito's activated lifelink ability, while also threatening an instant win via Exquisite Blood. While the deck benefits from reliable mono-black mana and strong creature removal, it features limited protection and thin ramp, making it vulnerable to sweepers and artifact-based strategies.
