Deck overview

This deck is an Azorius control strategy commanded by Hope Estheim that converts substantial life gain into offensive mill pressure and alternative win conditions. The deck establishes early board presence through low-cost lifegain permanents like Soul Warden and Authority of the Consuls, paired with card engines such as Trouble in Pairs and The Gaffer to maintain hand size. Rather than winning through standard combat damage, the game plan focuses on escalating life totals to trigger game-ending payoffs like Felidar Sovereign, Test of Endurance, or Aetherflux Reservoir, while Hope Estheim repeatedly mills opponents on end steps whenever massive life bursts from cards like Beacon of Immortality resolve. A robust Azorius interaction package—featuring countermagic like Fierce Guardianship and Mana Drain alongside board wipes like Farewell—protects the board and manages opposing threats until a win condition triggers.
