Deck overview

This deck is a high-synergy Grixis build centered on Obeka, Splitter of Seconds, turning combat connections into compounding upkeep steps. By accelerating on Turns 1–2 with low-cost mana rocks and deploying evasion enablers like Aqueous Form, Brotherhood Regalia, or Whispersilk Cloak, the deck sets up Obeka to reliably connect on Turn 4. Once Obeka deals combat damage, the controller receives additional upkeep phases immediately after combat. This causes the deck's extensive suite of upkeep-triggered permanents—including the Monarch Courts like Court of Ambition and Court of Cunning, Twilight Prophet, and Descent into Avernus—to trigger 2 to 5+ times in a single turn. These multi-upkeep bursts systematically strip opposing hands, mill entire libraries, or drain life totals while generating immense card advantage and free mana. Countermagic and protective equipment shield the commander, enabling a fast Turn 6 closeout across the table.
