Deck overview

This Bant deck is helmed by Kellan, the Kid, leveraging mechanics that cast spells from anywhere other than hand—specifically Plot, Foretell, Adventure, Cascade, and topdeck casting—to cheat permanents directly onto the battlefield. Supported by a dense suite of 1-2 CMC ramp spells, the deck quickly deploys Kellan on Turn 2 or 3 and sets up an explosive tempo engine. Synergistic engines like Vega, the Watcher, Outcaster Trailblazer, and Doc Aurlock, Grizzled Genius maximize card advantage and mana cost reductions from exile plays. The deck transitions smoothly into high-impact threats, utilizing Natural Order, Invasion of Ikoria, and cascade engines to assemble overwhelming boards with Avenger of Zendikar, Railway Brawler, and Apex Devastator. Lethal combat damage is closed out efficiently on Turn 6 via a trample overrun from Craterhoof Behemoth, while flexible countermagic and foretold protection spells defend the engine.
